About Plasma

XPL is the native token of Plasma, a Layer 1 blockchain built for stablecoin payments with zero-fee USD₮ transfers.

Plasma is a proof-of-stake blockchain designed for stablecoins. It lets users send USD₮ without fees, runs Ethereum-compatible smart contracts and aims to let apps pay gas in stablecoins. It launched on 25 September 2025. The company also runs Plasma One, an app with a Visa card and yield on stablecoin balances earned through DeFi protocols.

XPL pays for transactions and will reward validators. Validator rewards are planned at 5% annual inflation falling to 3%, starting only when outside validators and delegation go live; base fees are burned.

Initial supply was 10 billion XPL: 40% for ecosystem growth, 25% for the team, 25% for investors and 10% sold publicly. A third of team and investor tokens unlocked on 25 September 2026, and the rest unlock monthly until September 2028.
