Immutable

Immutable is a blockchain platform for web3 games; IMX pays gas and protocol fees, is staked for rewards and is used to vote.

Immutable builds blockchain tools for video games: Immutable X and the EVM-compatible Immutable zkEVM, the Passport wallet, and a shared marketplace for in-game items as NFTs. The company is Australian and its president and co-founder is Robbie Ferguson. Games such as Ubisoft's Might & Magic: Fates have partnered with it.

IMX is the platform's token, launched on 5 November 2021. It is the gas currency of Immutable zkEVM, 20% of every protocol fee must be paid in IMX, and those IMX fees are set aside as rewards for active participants who stake. IMX is also used for governance votes.

The total supply is 2 billion IMX. Just over half (51.72%) was set aside for ecosystem development and a quarter for project development; all scheduled unlocks ended on 31 October 2025. About 904 million IMX were counted as circulating on 1 October 2026.

The SEC sent Immutable a Wells notice in late 2024 over its 2021 token sales and closed the investigation without action in March 2025.
