About Golem

Golem is a decentralised marketplace for computing power; GLM is the token used to pay providers for running tasks.

Golem Network is an open-source marketplace for computing power. People with spare hardware (Providers) rent it out, and people who need computing (Requestors) pay for it, for tasks from 3D rendering to running AI models. There is no central cloud company in between.

GLM is the payment token of this marketplace, an ERC-20 token on Ethereum that also works on Polygon. Golem raised 820,000 ETH in a crowdfunding on 11 November 2016 and created 1 billion tokens (then called GNT). Since late 2020 GNT has been swapped 1:1 into GLM. The supply is fixed at 1 billion, there is no staking and holding GLM pays nothing.

Golem Factory funds development from its reserves and stakes part of its ETH with its own validators. On 23 September 2026 it reported a security review that found and fixed 36 issues in provider software, one of them critical, with no evidence of exploitation.
